This past week I had the pleasure of educating photographers on the importance of switching from body focused compliments (your legs look great!) to person focused compliments (YOU look great!) and as such, I wanted to get the ball rolling with some non-body focused compliments for you to try out. Whether you are a photographer or business owner working with clients or you are simply a human existing in the world wanting to compliment the people around you (including your kiddos!) these compliments are a great place to start. For so long, we’ve been reduced down to parts so much so that we believe that commenting each other on our body bits is a good thing! And while the intention is usually great, the outcome sometimes is not as great as we’d hope for. Society has made us believe that we are a series of parts that constantly need to be fixed which is why when we do “fix” one part of ourselves, we simply move onto the next. The reality is, we aren’t PARTS - we are WHOLE. Whole humans with whole hearts and whole spirits. We just need to shift the way we’ve been taught to relate to each other.
