I was in the studio late one night and I noticed how cool it looked with all the ambient light from the lamps and gels. I was a little sad, because all of my sessions happen in the morning between 10 and 1 so rarely do I get the opportunity to play in the night. Well, I’ve decided to stop feeling sorry for things and just go get ‘em, so I reached out to Leah to see if she would want to come in to model while I played around with the lights and the set. When I first created this set design, this was one of the vibes I had imagined. I pulled a bunch of items from the wardrobe to channel the 70s vibes we were going for: lots of velvet, jewel tones, gold, belly chains, and fun prints and we started as the sun started setting. The sun comes in quite brightly before it goes down (thanks to my glorious west facing windows), so we had to wait a bit longer than anticipated, but it allowed us to play with the juxtaposing light sources! Most of the session was lit with regular led bulbs in the lamps, but we also played around with the neons (LIFX beam + bulb and Yungnuo 360 light wands for the photographers).
