Fab Fatties
When I came down to Florida I knew I wanted to once again work with the glorious Keira Leilani, but when she suggested her friend Sabrina come along I was that much more excited (it was also the impetus for me buying yet another Selkie dress…) I have been wanting to do a romantical friends shoot with Selkie dresses since I got my first one and this idea of women just dressing up and hanging out together is something I love so much. Just because we are adults doesn’t mean we can’t play with fashion, but the reality of fashion for fat bodies is up until recently there’s been very little available in the way of princess couture, which is why I love Selkie dresses - while their sizing is still limited to smaller fat bodies, they’ve at least started to include more than other companies and from what I’ve heard, they are planning to expand.
I want to encourage folks to get together and enjoy hanging out in attire that makes them feel good, magical, and delightful. And I don’t mean wearing outfits to do something specific - I literally mean, just wear fancy dress clothes because they feel nice and adds an element of play in your relatively regular day. Wear your favorite outfit on your next zoom meeting, your grocery shopping, anything - and if the thought of that makes you nervous, ask yourself “What am I afraid of if I was to dress in an outfit that brings me absolute joy?” and then ask yourself “What if me wearing a joyful outfit inspires someone else to wear one?”
[This session was a collaborative effort with myself, Boudoir by Nicole Michelle, Tara Lyn Boudoir, Beauty by Briana, and Eau Gallie Florist. Sabrina also brought some sweet shoes that had a platform of resin + remnants of her wedding bouquet by Rejoice & Blossom.]
