Water Doesn’t Care

It’s hot as hell here in Winnipeg and I don’t know about you, but I am itching to get into a pool, the lake, the river - SOMETHIN’! But I also know the hot weather brings out a lot of insecurities in humans, so I wrote this little poem/made this little video to inspire you to know that at the end of the day Water doesn’t care that your body looks or is a certain kinda way - it simply wants to embrace you and make space for you. It wants to take the pressure off. This video was created using footage my buddy Beth Olsen captured at Body Image Bootcamp Gone Wild in 2019 featuring the OG crew of Body Image Bootcamp facilitators! I will warn you there is a WHOLE LOTTA BODY happening in this video so if that’s not your jam, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Water Doesn’t Care

Water doesn’t care

She doesn’t care about your body size,
your body shape,
or your texture.

Water doesn’t care

She just wants to hold you,
embrace you, and
soothe you.

Water doesn’t care

If your tum rolls,
Your belly moves
or your skin
isn’t smooth.

Water doesn’t care

She wants to
make room for you
allow you to expand
to take up the space you deserve
and take some of the pressure off.

She doesn’t care
if you cry,
for she will hold space for your tears

In fact, she’s made up of the same.

Water doesn’t care

If you are too much
or not enough
she will shift
to make room for you.

Water doesn’t care

She doesn’t care about your past
Where you came from
or what came before.

Water doesn’t care

In fact, she invites you to play
to frolic, to spin
to thrive,
to float,
to swim.

Water doesn’t care

If you are too tall,
too short,
too fat,
too thin,
too old,
too young
She makes room for everyone.

Perhaps you are waiting
for the right time
perhaps you are waiting
for the right body
perhaps you are waiting
for so many things

but I want to assure you
that water truly doesn’t care.
She wants to hold you
embrace you
soothe you
and let you experience
freedom.
