As society, we get fed this very specific view of what sexy, sensual, intimate sessions should look like - we think that in order to show up in a boudoir session we NEED to wear traditional lingerie, we HAVE to wear glamour makeup, we MUST arch our backs, etc. While some people may feel powerful with all of this, it is important in the boudoir industry that we do not assume that ALL people feel powerful and confident in this way.
But it shouldn’t come as a surprise that that is the representation of how we view worthy photos of women when we are trained to photograph people in a very binary way. It’s not only ridiculous, but it’s also sexist and exclusionary:

WOMEN pose like this
(angle them to make them smaller, shoot from above to make them look smaller, turn in the hands so they look graceful, never head on to camera - that’s “too” aggressive)

MEN pose like that
(head on to camera - that equals power, shoot slightly up - this asserts dominance, shoulders wide and broad - show the strength).

So, we took those rules and set them on fire
- because power is not just men -
POWER IS FOR ALL.
