9 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Come to Italy

On June 18 - 21st, Kara Marie and I are going to be creating something epic at Castello Ceconi (the Graphistudio castle) just outside of Venice, Italy in the mountains. This will be our 3rd year there and while I am excited, I wanted to share 9 reasons why you shouldn’t join us.

Without further adieu, let’s get into it:

  1. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you don’t want to attend a workshop that features diverse bodies - listen, I get it. You probably love photographing the same bodies over and over and over again, spending copious amounts of money to attend workshops and shootouts only to photograph people that don’t actually look like the people that want to book you as their photographer.

2. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you don’t want to expand your creative eye and see bodies & light as elements of art - Hey, there’s nothing wrong with creating cookie-cutter images, it probably gets the job done, ya know? Kara Marie & I are going to be heavily focused on teaching folks how to capture their clients in ways that are emotional, artistic, and empowered but I get it, not everyone wants to be an artist and provide their clients with customized images that help them see their bodies as art.

3. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you aren’t ready to be fully supported by us - One of the elements of anything I do is recognize the importance of healing the healer, meaning that we will pour everything into you, so you can go forward and do that for your clients. If you aren’t looking for a supportive, loving, and potentially, life changing experience then this might not be for you.

4. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you don’t want to meet new friends or reinvigorate old friendships - one of our favorite aspects of these events is that you aren’t alone and even if you travel alone to get here, you won’t leave alone. If you aren’t ready to laugh and cry and create with other humans, than this workshop may not be what you are looking for.

5. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you don’t want to learn how to create images that make you more money - I get it, I get it. Your bank account is overflowing with funds and you couldn’t possibly accept any more money from your clients. If you’re already making too much money with your photography then this workshop probably isn’t for you because Kara Marie is going to teach you how she’s built an epic brand creating imagery that SELLS.

6. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you don’t want to make some epic memories - One of the best parts about coming to Italy for the workshop, is that you can stay a few days ahead or a few days after to take in the gloriousness that is Venice (or Florence which had THEE best ravioli I’ve ever had in my life), but if you are not looking for any sort of adventure, fun, or memory making then this type of experience probably wouldn’t be for you.

7. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you hate castles - ugh, all the hideous stonework, art, and tile. The epicness and drama is sometimes too much for people who prefer the look of the cold clean lines of a shopping mall.

8. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you dislike animated and authentic instructors - Both Kara Marie and I are known for our relatively authentic silly behaviors when we are instructing, so if you are looking for 2 individuals who “have their shit together” and look “poised and perfect”, then this probably isn’t the best fit.

9. You probably shouldn’t come to Italy if you dislike small, intimate learning environments - Some people thrive in large crowds, however, Kara & I are not some people. We purposely strive to keep our classes small and intimate so we can give each person the one on one attention they deserve and desire while making sure we don’t burn ourselves out in the process. As such, I totally understand if you are someone who would rather be elbowing their way to the front of the class to get a good photo instead of taking your time with the models.

So, my friend, there you have it - 9 reasons why you shouldn’t come to Italy! And if you do want the opposite of all of those reasons, then you should definitely join us in Italy - we’d love to have you!
