Communication Methods for Dream Makers

Helloooooo, Dream Maker! Connecting to the motivation behind your medium is going to help you feel more aligned in your business and as such, I wanted to start with helping you out with a few communication methods to take your relationship with your clients/customers to the next level. Communication with clients is necessary to setting appropriate expectations, making sure everyone is there for the right reason, and helping you mitigate an unhappy client.

Here are five ways creative dream makers can communicate more effectively with their clients using fantasy, escapism, and dream creation as the core motivation:

  1. Storytelling through Visual Imagination: Use fun, playful imagery and stories that transport clients into a fantastical world. Frame your messages in ways that let them envision their wildest dreams being realized, inviting them to step into their desired reality. Create visuals that stimulate the imagination and inspire them to take action. When I first started my career in boudoir, I loved set building and collecting wardrobe to complete the aesthetic - this allowed me to help my clients transport to their dream scenario. I would share BTS, pinterest boards, and shopping experiences to dream with my clients online.

  2. Immersive Experiences: Design communication that feels like an escape into a dream. This could include interactive workshops, virtual or in-person sessions that are themed like a magical journey, or even using virtual reality (VR) to provide immersive experiences where clients feel as though they are in another world, engaging with their creative potential. If wardrobe is an aspect of your fantasy building, invite your clients in for their own styling session. If you pain dream experiences, introduce your clients to why you choose the colors or textures you do.

  3. Future Visioning: Help clients project themselves into their dream future by framing conversations and content around what their life could look like if their wildest fantasies were realized. Use guided visualizations and language that immerses them in the sensation of achieving their dreams, empowering them to believe in what’s possible. A lot of communication focuses on where they are and where they’ve been which can be a little wompwomp - bring them into the transformation by painting a picture for them of what is possible.

  4. Symbolism and Archetypes: Incorporate powerful symbols, myths, and archetypal stories that resonate with universal themes of transformation, heroism, and discovery. When communicating, weave in elements of mythological or fantastical symbolism to make the journey feel deeper, tapping into emotions and subconscious desires. I know a lot of people love to channel different Tarot cards or mythological creatures - how can you incorporate these stories into ultimate fantasy expression for your client?

  5. Playful Language and Metaphor: Use playful, dream-like language that evokes wonder, curiosity, and possibility. Metaphors like "entering the portal to your wildest dreams" or "unlocking hidden realms of your creativity" or simply: “imagine…”can engage clients in a way that feels inspiring and magical, making your messages both fun and impactful.

Communicating as a Dream Maker should be fun, inviting, and visionary. You get to harness the power of fantasy and escapism to inspire your clients & customers to connect more deeply with their own creativity and imagine a world of possibility. Dream Makers are here to help us tap into possibility, imagination, and magic - don’t be afraid of your wild, beautiful mind, it’s meant to be expressed!
