Memoirs  Are  Forever

A 4 week workshop to get your memoir started!

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that every person lives a life worthy of sharing. The triumphs and tribulations we go through, the hardships, heartbreaks, and healing that happens, and the falling down and getting back up is what reminds us that we human and more alike than different. Every time someone has the courage to share parts of their life story, they are helping someone else in the world feel less alone. As the proud author of 4 books and tons of blog and instagram posts all written from aspects of my life’s journey, memoir work has become my favorite way to connect with humans and recognize my own strength and resiliency and now I want to help you do the same! This course is designed to help you get the stories out of your heart and into the world so that you can connect with more people and heal yourself in the process.

Here’s what you can expect:

Week 1: Intro to Memoir Writing

In this first week we will discuss how memoirs differ from other types of writing, like autobiographies. We will explore the elements of a good memoir to help start setting up the structure for your story or collection of stories.

Week 2: Developing your story

In the second week, I will introduce you to a few systems to “collect” your stories. In the collection process, we will choose ONE to work on for the remainder of the class.

Week 3: Writing Techniques

In the 3rd week, we will introduce you to techniques to help refine the first draft of your story. We will explore scene description, the importance of dialogue, and using pacing to help paint a picture for the reader.

Week 4: Sharing is Caring

In the final week of the course, we will share our completed drafts of our stories. This is a time for celebration and uplifting our fellow writers for completing the arduous task of simply writing! We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
