Love Month is upon us and I wanted to drop a few activities you can do to create images or have a loveable experience.

HEART STICKERS!

I found these puffy heart stickers at the dollarstore and put them over the parts of myself that I am the most insecure about. As I placed the stickers I whispered “I love you” to the different parts of my body - it not only created some cute photos, but it also gave me intentional space to talk to myself in a kind way.

BUY YOURSELF FLOWERS!

If you’ve been following me for awhile you know I’m a big advocate for buying flowers for yourself at all times of the year, but there’s something special about buying them in a season when we are almost told me MUST expect them from someone else. I love to take flowers and stick them in my rolls - it helps me see my body as a bit of a vase or collaboration with the art I am creating. Grab your camera/phone and snap some shots of yourself playing with the flowers!

SPEND TIME LOUNGING AROUND NUDIE JUDIE OR WEARING AN OUTFIT/ITEM THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD

I don’t know how cold it is where you are, but here in Winnipeg it is not for the faint of heart - it is a frozen, icy hellscape. However, this is when I love to crank the heat up, take a hot shower, oil myself up with coconut oil and lounge around with either a glorious robe or nothing at all (let’s just say the guys that push the snow off the roof got a bit of a view!) Being naked allows us to acquaint ourselves what our body looks like NOW - the thing is, we tend to avoid things that we fear and so most of us DON’T spend time look at our bodies because we’ve been taught to fear them. I encourage you to take a few hours a week and just be in the gloriousness that is your skin. Maybe take a bath, book your photoshoot, take a longer shower than normal, or simply tell your family that you are taking time for yourself. Take some sexy selfies while you are at it!

MAKE A MIXTAPE AND REVEL IN YOUR MAGIC, BABY

Blast that music, baby! Create a mixtape for yourself as though you were gifting it to your high school lover. What songs would you play that make you think of all the gloriousness that you are? What music brings up memories that you’ve had on your own? (For me, Jason Mraz’ The Remedy reminds me of the first summer I traveled on a plane by myself to NYC!) Feel free to scope out my playlist - I had so much fun curating it because it brought back so many memories!!

WRITE YOURSELF A POEM

We send love notes to our lovers during this month, but why don’t we ever send love letters to ourselves? Take some time this month to draft a lovely hand written letter to you from YOU - thanking you and cherishing you and proclaiming devotion to you. Make it a poem, a sonnet, a song, a letter, or even just a bullet point list detailing all of the things you love about yourself. Feel free to use a website like Future Me : to set a time/date in the future to receive it from yourself!

Overall, just have fun and enjoy spending time with yourself, thinking about yourself, and doting on yourself. If you follow me in any capacity you probably identify with the traits of a human giver and while it is fulfilling to do things for others, it is imperative that we turn our talents back on ourselves to fill up our own damn cups! If you give any of these a try, I’d love to hear how they went for you - tag me on instagram @terihofford and I will reshare it in my stories!!
