Body Image Bootcamp: Sol 2022

Where do I even begin? Every time I have to recap the amazing weeks I have with amazing humans teaching the ins and outs and ups and downs of body image, I learn so much about myself and remember just how important this work is. The SOL(SUN) group was our first group of 2022, and when I tell you this was a group of strong, powerful humans - I AM NOT KIDDING. If y’all know Clifton Strengths, we had a house full of activators, commands, and strategics! They taught me the importance of being able to have a conversation with passion and not needing it to mean more than just that as well, they role modeled amazing accountability and holding space with each other. They showed me the beauty of sisterhood and how they helped support, uplift, cradle, and encourage each other whether it be during the class, during an impromptu photoshoot, or sitting around chatting in the evenings. Some of my favorite memories weren’t captured on camera (at least not on my main camera) but rather just fleeting moments that I was able to witness. I always think it’s amazing that while yes, the content of BIBC is amazing, powerful, educational, etc. it is in the in between moments that I truly see the magic that BIBC has to offer the world. I witness humans coming together in a non-judgmental space where freedom to be oneself while also encouraging self awareness is celebrated. I watch beauties hold hands, hug hearts, and twinkle their eyes as they watch their new friends face fears, find their power, and step out of their comfort zone. Most times when folks come to Body Image Bootcamp, they don’t know anyone, but by the time they leave they’ve made beautiful friendships and the SOL group was no different.

Here were some of my highlights in the mini-moments:

Watching Heike & Jennifer dancing to the fab music Beth played while our disco lights twirled around
Watching Liz teach the group the intimate art of gold leaf photography
Watching Ashley strut her damn stuff in her tinsel dress + turban (serious goddess vibes)
Peering over the balcony to watch Monica surrounded by photographers as they hyped her up and she posed without fear or hesitation
A tender moment putting flowers in and around Adrian’s hair & body after an emotional week
Terri experiencing her first boudoir session with me and watching her smile light up the room
Cynthia walking out of her bedroom wearing her fishnets up to her arm pits to make me laugh
Watching the tears fall as we all held hands and shared something special about the person next to us
Standing back during the “glitter graduation” to watch the gentle and sweet and silly and creative expressions between each person

These humans are incredible and their power is unstoppable. Scroll through the images to witness some of the magical moments & humans I had the pleasure to capture. (You might see more of some than others, but that’s only out of respect for their privacy since we are nekid a lot of the time!)
