Join us for a day of creativity + portfolio building with people that actually look like your clients!
We know that all bodies are worthy of being photographed, but few are being shown due to bullsh*t beauty standards and the wedding industry is one of the most frustrating. This is why we are putting together a photographic experience for you to build your portfolio featuring folks that look like your actual clients and give you the opportunity to learn how you can capture connection & love in an industry that demands perfection over anything else.
And by the way…did you know that photographers who increased the representation of bodies in their portfolios saw an increase of 88% in bookings AND revenue? Just sayin’.
Your Hosts
TERI HOFFORD - Body image educator, photographer & author
Teri has spent the last decade shifting the photography industry to focus on more inclusivity and diversity. Through her work with the Adobe Development Fund, The Portrait Masters, WPPI, and her own educational platforms everyBODIES education & Body Image Bootcamp, Teri strives to give people the confidence they need to be able to work through their own body image to help their clients feel empowered as they step in front of the lens. Teri is the author of the best selling books: The Geode Theory: Chipping Away at Body Image & 2200 Characters or Less and is currently publishing her 3rd book, Homecoming: Tales of Travel, Discovery & Self Acceptance due this summer.
Chantelle Dione - Photographer & Studio owner
Chantelle is the proud owner of CDP Studios in Stonewall, MB as well as an Empowerment Photographer who has a specialty in photographing women over the age of 40. She started photographing with purpose in 2011 and started her business, Chantelle Dione Photography, in 2013. Over the course of her career she has received awards and accreditation through the globally recognized Portrait Masters as well as created marketing campaigns for such organizations as The Wonderful Wedding Show
The Shoot Out
We will have 5-6 different photography stations designed for you to capture the different aspects of a wedding portfolio. We are intentionally keeping the attendee numbers low so you can take your time with each of the models/couples that we will be providing.
The intent behind this event is two-fold:
1)To give you images that you can use to diversify your portfolio with so more folks see themselves represented in the industry - we will start the event off with education by Teri Hofford, teaching you about how representation in the photography industry equates to cultural change.
2)To help you learn how to use different means of lighting/approaches to add to your toolkit because if there's one thing weddings are known for - it's the unpredictability of the lighting scenarios. Chantelle and Teri will teach you different lighting methods and approaches to help you achieve imagery you can be proud of, but more importantly, provide you with skills that will transfer outside of the shoot out.

Gear required: Your camera + desired lenses (bring a few choices so we can play!), memory cards, charged battery (or battery charger), notebook if you like to take notes, and an excitement for creating & learning!!

Upon acceptance of your application, we will review it and if you are chosen, we will send you a link to secure your spot for the event! Easy peasy!
I’M WANTING TO MODEL
If you someone who wants to “model” for the day (we use that term loosely - no experience is required), then this is for you! We are looking for folks who are underrepresented, so if you tick any of the boxes below, then please submit your application with a photo of your face and a full length photo you feel awesome in! This isn’t for us to narrow down based on “beauty” but rather to ensure we are creating as much diversity as possible for our photographers! Keep in mind this is a wedding focused event, so we will require you to wear formal wear & potentially have your hair & makeup done (some of which we may be able to provide for you - fingers crossed!) We will have more details as we get closer to the day, but we figured we’d let you know what you are in for.
Underrepresented folks are usually: Aged 40+, Queer, Trans, Non-Binary, Black, Indigenous, Asian, East Indian, Plus size (over a size 18+), visibly disabled, etc. Essentially if you go to Pinterest and type in “BRIDE” or “WEDDING PHOTO INSPO” who do you NOT see represented!
