Do The Damn Thing
-A 10 Day Challenge to Get You Started-
Wishing and Doing are 2 Different things
Perhaps you wish you could write a book, run a marathon, file your taxes, clean your house, learn to draw, write a book, do Facebook lives, write your blog posts, do Instagram reels/TikToks, cook every day, etc.
But here’s the thing - wishing isn’t action.
It isn’t taking responsibility.
It’s just waiting and then being sad when it doesn’t happen.
SO. I want to help you get to the DOING.
This 10 day challenge is my call to anyone who wants to get started…
You see, one of my strengths is that of an activator. I get an idea and then I get to work. [In fact, I rarely think BEFORE I act which is its own issue, but something I’ve learned to manage.] Therefore, I want to give you some of my activatory goodness for 10 days to just get you going.
You know, like the push your parent gave you when you were trying to ride your bike?
I want to hold your feet to the fire and support you as you go!

So, what do we do?
First we decide on the mountain we are tackling, then we can chart the course.
We need to decide on what it is what you WANT to do. I have a lovely little downloadable fillable pdf that you can use on the computer or print off to help you stay focused on your big goal and the ONE step you will be taking towards it. The point of this challenge is not to FINISH - only to get STARTED.
Now, let’s examine the fears/beliefs surrounding the mountain
Once we know what the THING is, we need figure out what is making it so difficult for us to get to it. I get it, big things can be overwhelming, but you do big things that you LOVE all the time - so this lets us know that there is a bigger fear or belief surrounding this particular task. Here are some questions to get you thinking about why this task is so difficult for you:
1. What feelings come up when I think about this task?
2. What thoughts come up when I think about DOING this task?
3. Have I ever felt like this before?
4.What am I afraid of if I was to do this task?
5. What am I making that mean?
Am I afraid of rejection? (You will literally be in the same spot you currently are) What if no one listens to me? (talk anyways. Your only job is to show up.) What if I say/write something wrong? (if you are writing from/about your experience and your truth it can’t be wrong) What if I offend someone? (Obvi take the advice if it’s considered harmful to an oppressed person, but ultimately, you are not responsible for someone else’s reaction to your work) What if someone else has written something similar? (Your voice is yours - it will sound different) What if I fuck up? (You probably will and guess what, you’ll be fine.) What if I realize how out of shape (which is a construct btw) I am? (You can’t get “in” shape unless you start moving) What if I am uncomfortable? (You will be)

How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.
Once we’ve made peace with our fears/beliefs, then its time to ask ourselves:
WHAT IS ONE STEP I CAN MAKE TO DO THIS THING?
Whatever your brain tells you first, make that even smaller.
Here are some examples:
If you want to work at paying off your debt and just looking at your bank account makes you squidgy you might think you should start by putting money towards your debt, but ACTUALLY we need to deal with the squidgy first. Start by looking at your bank accounts every day. That’s it. That’s the whole task.
OR
If you want to do Facebook Lives but are squidgy about being on camera because of how you think you look, start by just logging as though you are going to do a live and get comfortable seeing yourself on camera for 10 days - you never have to press GO LIVE!
OR
If you want to write a book, a blog post, a caption but are squidgy about what people will think about it, start by just inheriting a free writing practice for yourself every day for 10 days and see how YOU feel about your writing. If you are past the stage of writing for you, share with your closest support system. (No. It won’t be an inconvenience). Set a timer for 5 minutes and just write whatever is in your head - even if it’s nonsense.
OR
If you want to incorporate more movement in your day but are squidgy that you may not have the lung capacity you used to or that it hurts your body because you haven’t done it in awhile, start by just opening the door to the outside or just standing on your treadmill or putting on your sportsing wardrobe. No time limits. No specific activity. Just feeling what it feels like. For 10 days.
OR
If you’ve been meaning to do a TikTok/Reel but feel squidgy about the content you have to create, just start by exploring and saving sounds that you resonate with or jot down 1 reel idea every day for 10 days. If you are past that stage, record yourself and save as a draft or download and share with your private group every day for 10 days.
OR
If you’ve been looking at a glaring pile of edits that need to get finished but get squidgy about “how far behind” you are (there is no such things as behind), task yourself to work on 1-10 images every day for 10 days.
You get the point, right?
When and where will this take place?
Come join me at the 10 Day Challenge Facebook group so that we can hold you accountable and support you! We will only be in there for 10 days, so you won’t have to worry about being in “yet another FB group” forever.
I will post videos leading up to the start date, but your 10 days will be from March 7 - March 17, 2022!
